Titanic Auctions at Christie's

This life preserver, which will soon go up for auction at Christie's Auction House, was worn by Titanic survivor Laura Mabel Francatelli on the night the ship sank. Her nephew inherited the vest in 1967, and it has been with the family ever since.

I've been a Titanic fanatic ever since I was 8 years old when I stumbled upon a National Geographic Magazine dated somewhere 1989. It was the first article ever written about an expedition made several thousand feet below the Atlantic Ocean. When James Cameron made the movie, I became more fascinated with the shipwreck, the real people, and the artifacts that were recovered from the ill-fated ship.

Titanis is indeed a ship of dreams - tragically, so many dreams were lost on that fateful night.
